SUPPORTING THE OSSINING PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Ossining Public Library could not operate without the generous support of the community. There are many ways to support your Library - here are a few examples

VOTING…on the Library's budget

Each May, residents of the Ossining School District get a chance to vote directly on the Library's budget. This is a very important vote for the Library, since nearly 95% of our operating budget is raised by tax levy. The referendum for next year's budget was held on May 16th, and it passed by a vote of 1,575 to 1,106 (thank you!).

VOLUNTEERING…your time and expertise

An hour or more of your time can make a big impact when you volunteer at the Library. The Library employs volunteers in both adult and children’s services, as well as library administration and building maintenance. Consider spending some time with us to do the following:

If you would like to volunteer, contact our Assistant Director, Joan Hraban, at extension 310.

JOINING…the Library Associates

The Associates help the Library in many different ways. Members support cultural and fund-raising programs, represent the Library at community events, and help us promote community awareness of Library services. Annual dues begin at only $5. If you would like more information about the Associates of the Ossining Public Library, contact our Program Coordinator, Jane Clark, at extension 316.

CONTRIBUTING…through donations and bequests.

The Library is pleased to accept donations of money, books, magazine subscriptions, and certain items of furniture and equipment. All contributions are tax deductible to the full extent allowable by law. If you would like to make a donation, please contact our Administrative Assistant, Gen Goble, at extension 312.

Bequests, memorial funds and endowments are a lasting way to share a love of reading and life-long learning with your community. Contact the library, your attorney or an estate planner for more information.
