OUR MISSION
The Ossining Public Library is a School District Library
chartered by the State of New York to serve all residents
of the Ossining School District. As a member of the Westchester
Library System, it also provides services to a larger community.
The mission of the Library is:
- to assemble, administer, and present in organized collections,
information in a variety of formats to serve the educational,
cultural and recreational needs of the community;
- to provide opportunity for and encouragement of continuing
education for all people; and
- to serve as the doorway to learning for preschool children,
and to engender a lifelong love of reading in children of
all ages.
This mission statement was adopted by the Board of Trustees
on December 17, 1997.
