Words & Music Concert Series

The Words & Music concert series presented by TD Bank brings well known singer/songwriters and recording artists to perform in the Library's 200 seat Budarz Theater.

Since its inception in 2011, 37 shows have been presented in the Budarz theater. 2015 has thus far featured free Sunday afternoon performances by James Maddock, Jeff Slate & Friends with special guest Annie Minogue and the Willie Nile band as well as a sold-out Friday evening ticketed concert featuring the Early Elton trio.

An Evening with Richie Furay
with special guest John Batdorf
Friday, September 18, 2015 at 8pm

Join us on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th at the Budarz theater in the Ossining Public Library as we welcome back Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Richie Furay.

Richie Furay was a founding member of not one but two seminal bands. In 1966 Richie joined forces with Stephen Stills & Neil Young to form Buffalo Springfield. Although they were only together for two years, the band was one of the most influential of its era, earning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recognition in 1997.

After Buffalo Springfield disbanded, Richie and Jimmy Messina formed Poco, a band that was part of the first wave of the West Coast country rock genre and whose unique sound shaped musical styles for years to come.

John Batdorf (Batdorf & Rodney) will open the show with a solo acoustic set.

Tickets are $45 for general admission seating and can be purchased online at:

About The Foundation

The Foundation was founded in 2007 to assist the Library and its Board in raising funds for important activities and projects outside the scope of the Library budget. These may include new programs, equipment, special activities, pilot projects and the establishment of an endowment fund. Among the activities or projects we have sponsored or are currently sponsoring are the Words and Music Performance Series, the Italian Film Series, Building a Reading Community (a program to encourage parents and children reading together), the After School Homework Help Program, performances by the Mustizo Dance Company, folk music, drapes and equipment for the Budarz Theater, and funding for Children's Room mural.

We are grateful to several of you who have already made generous pledges to help insure this state-of-the-art cultural center will have the resources to deliver on its mandate. We ask the community-at-large for their support and contribution to help the Library provide more breadth and depth in its vital services.

If you are interested in knowing more about these projects, or in contributing to them or to the Foundation in general, please contact us at the address above or email us at

Our Foundation presently has six sitting members: Tara Matzan-Fried, Rachel Giampietro, Alan Marzelli, Sudha Narsipur, Nancy Peller, and Gloria Tannenbaum. We’re working hard to make Ossining a better place and believe you’ll enjoy being part of it.
