Books Headed To The Big Screen–August 2018

Jul 31, 2018 | Books, Movies and TV

Where do you fall in the great “Do you prefer the book or the movie?” debate? I don’t think it’s as simple as saying the book is always better because…well, Jaws and The Godfather, I’m looking at you. But even still, there is a moment of trepidation when you heard that a much-loved book is being adapted into film: can it possibly live up to your expectations?

There are five much-loved books coming to the big screen in August. Get a jump on reading them now, so you can compare the story in your mind to the one onscreen–and also to brag to your friends that you liked the story before it was a movie.

The Darkest Minds--based on the Young Adult novel by Alexandra Bracken, Amandla Stenberg and Mandy Moore star in the sci-fi thriller about a group of teenagers on the run from the government after mysteriously getting superpowers.

Crazy Rich Asians–my beloved Crazy Rich Asians is finally on its way to the big screen, with the impeccably cast Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh starring. A glitzy, tawdry soap opera with equal parts romance and family drama, the book is not to be missed.
