How will this impact patrons?

What does this mean for the Ossining community?

Q: When will the work start? How long will it take? Will the library have to close during construction?

A: If the public votes “yes” in September, work will start in May 2026 and should finish by September 2028.  The Library will stay open during the first part of the project in 2026, (work on the retaining wall and parking areas).  The Library may relocate in 2027 during the second phase (interior and systems work).  The project team is currently looking for alternative parking and temporary space.

Because our heating and cooling system on the 2nd floor and mezzanine failed this summer, we are expediting this work, independent of the rest of the project, so that the 2nd floor and mezzanine remain usable by the public.

Q: If the Library moves during construction, will there be reductions in services? What about the staff?

We are committed to offering the same great services and programs during this time, with full Library staffing.

Q: What is the best way for me to keep informed about the bond and construction process?

Q: I work in the building/construction industry. How can I get involved in the project or share my thoughts?

We would love to hear from you!  Please speak with the library director (kfels@ossininglibrary.org).
