Summer Reading Program for Children

for babies and children up to 6th grade

Summer is coming and the Ossining Public Library Children’s Room is planning lots of great things for you again this year. We’ve got fun programs planned, including many of your old favorites. Even though they might look a little different, we’re sure you’re still going to love them. Of course, the library is going to have all the books you want waiting for you, as well as great recommendations in case you aren’t sure what you want to read. Best of all, summer reading is coming back again with your chance to win awesome prizes for all of the reading you were going to do anyway! What a great deal!

Summer Reading Kickoff Event

We’re kicking off Summer Reading 2020 on June 20th.

We’re welcoming Jungle Jim for an interactive, magical performance full of fun, laughs, and a HUGE balloon finale! Start a summer of fun for all ages and join us on SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 1 PM on Facebook Live!

Summer Reading on Paper

This year it’s easy. Everyone, from the newest baby to the coolest 6th grader, will participate in the same game. Just keep track of the minutes you read and you will be entered to win the end of summer raffle prizes.

How does it work? Pick up or print a Reading Log. Color one circle for every 10 minutes you read. We will have paper Reading Logs available for pickup during our Curbside Pickup outside the library’s lower entrance. You can also download them from this page.

Once you complete the entire sheet, the equivalent of 250 minutes of reading, return it to us at the library. We will have a box at Curbside Pickup for returned Reading Logs, or email a picture of your Reading Log to,

Don’t stop after just one sheet; keep reading all summer long! The more minutes you read, the more raffle tickets you will have entered in our prize drawing.

As always, please call us if you have any questions.

Summer Reading Online

If you don’t want to use paper Reading Logs, you can use the READsquared website or app to keep track of how many minutes you have read. It’s the same idea as the traditional paper log, just on the computer. We will be available, by phone, to walk you through the setup process should questions arise.

Don’t just stop after 250 minutes. Keep reading all summer long! The more minutes you read, the more raffle tickets you will have entered in our prize drawing.
