Babies need words every day, and what better place to practice these words than at the Ossining Library.
Children learn new words, letters and sounds when you TALK, READ, SING and WRITE together. PLAY allows children to practice everything they’ve learned. Every Friday at 11:00 am in the Budarz Theater we gather for songs, nursery rhymes, poems, bounces, books, and most importantly, bubbles. Parents, caregivers, and babies interact one on one in storytime–a time for cuddles, closeness and bonding. The learning part is subtle. Baby is rapidly developing vocabulary, emotional responsiveness, quantitative reasoning, and sensory development. All of these fancy words mean that baby is building the best foundation possible for reading success.
In addition, mom or dad can gain support from other parents and caregivers. Do you want to talk about lack of sleep, car seats, strollers, or over indulgent grandparents? All topics are on the table during the hour after storytime. No registration is required. We know that sometimes it’s hard to predict baby’s schedule. Come when you can and leave when you need to. You might make a lifelong friend while baby builds a strong early literacy foundation!
