Does your budding historian, social scientist, or researcher crave facts but just isn’t ready for a weighty tome? Or does your reader just prefer facts to fiction? Then check out our new nonfiction picture book collection.
Much of the newly published children’s nonfiction is being written in picture book format. Its resulting popularity is due to the accessibility that this format offers. Much of our older nonfiction collection is dense and serves its purpose in research papers and school assignments, making it too complex for the curious young reader. But there are some stalwarts like Gail Gibbons, Steve Jenkins, and Jim Arnosky who have been writing stellar nonfiction picture books for years. When we studied our collection we realized that by combining some of these great older nonfiction picture books with recently published nonfiction we could provide a rich collection of factual books to pique the interests of inquiring young minds. Stop by the library or give us a call, and we can provide some great recommendations for your inquisitive reader.
