2018 has been a year of nostalgia for the library staff, as we’ve celebrated our 125th Anniversary with a year full of programming and events that give a nod to our history; we’ve spent a fair amount of time poring over our archives and marveling at the previous library buildings, decades-old bills and receipts, and, of course, retro fashions, as we’ve prepared for our programs and displays. This nostalgia, as well as Mad Men (famously set in early 60’s Ossining), has inspired an event that I am incredibly excited: the Friends of the Ossining Public Library Mad for the Library wine and cheese fundraiser.
I would like to invite the entire Ossining community to join us on Saturday, November 3rd, at 7 p.m. in the library gallery, for an evening with a mid-century modern flair. Wine and cheese will be accompanied by live music courtesy of The Mike Risko Band, as well as raffles and a silent auction–plus, a 60s costume contest, so do make sure to press your white shirts and to find the perfect pillbox hat.
