Interlibrary Loan

Through the Westchester Library System, patrons are able to borrow print materials, such as books and magazine articles, as well as microfilm of old newspapers, that are not owned by any libraries in the Westchester Library System.

To use WLS’s Interlibrary Loan services, you must:
Have a valid Westchester Library System library card in good standing, with active borrowing privileges.
Be aware that, while WLS provides these services at no charge, certain lending institutions have loan policies that include charging fees or on-site-use-only restrictions. If this is the only way to obtain your requested material, you will be contacted for your permission before WLS proceeds. You can cancel a request if you decline to pay the charge or do not want to use the material in the library.

The average time it takes to obtain materials is between one and four weeks. Some materials may take longer to get, depending on the availability of the materials requested and the location of the owning libraries.

You can have the requested materials delivered to any WLS member library but you must return the materials to the same library where you first checked them out.

To place an ILL request, you may speak to library staff at any of our service desks in the library, or submit your request online through WLS.

You will need to provide WLS with your library card number, name, email address, and phone number.
